I absolutely love Dan Brown's books, and I finally bought the last Professor Langdon book I hadn't read: The Lost Symbol. It took roughly a day (totally procrastinated my actual work to finish it) and it was incredible. That man knows how to spin a mystery that keeps you guessing till the last second and though the big reveals at the end can lean more towards the predictable, they're nothing short of genius when fitting into the narrative.

I won't give anything away for the story but I do want to talk about some of the symbolic imagery in this book. There are similar things in the other books as well: The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Origins, Inferno. And for all of them, there's a really satisfying blend of science and religion that never ceases to intrigue me.

The Lost Symbol is centered on the Freemasons and a mystery centered around the US capitol, making it sound like something straight out of National Treasure. It does a great job explaining the "secret" society and its presence/role in today's world. I highly recommend this book as a way to escape for a little bit.

And finally, this beautiful quote:

"Nothing is hidden that will not be made known; nothing is secret that will not come to light."
