Liminal Space

Liminal Spaces are getting more attention as of late. In social media trends they're referred to as places that you get a strange sense of nostalgia from, like a memory you've forgotten. The definition of a liminal space is a transitional location like a hallway or waiting room, so these places being so recognizable makes sense. There seem to be two sides of this aesthetic: the fond nostalgia and the darker, dread-inducing locations that feel like they're nearly forgotten. 

I decided to focus more on the darker side of things because it's a lot easier to find places like that: weird spaces that just feel a little off.
